I hear at least 2-3 times a week a parent tell their children, they are too young to see a chiropractor and they shouldn’t have back pain at their age.  The study below shows that 25% of school aged children, ages 7-16, have back pain.

Prolonged sitting in class and doing homework along with poor posture can cause back and neck pain as well as headaches.  Sports can also be a cause of spine related injuries and pain.  Chiropractic care is the best treatment for musculoskeletal conditions of the spine.  Ruling out more serious conditions of course is important, but they tend to be rare.  Things like infections, tumors, disc herniations etc.

Dr. Myers can refer you for x-rays, MRI, and CT scans for more advanced imaging needs.  A chiropractor has the ability to diagnose and recognize contraindications and more severe conditions, the same as a family doctor.

A change in activity level with sports may be warranted.  The good news is children tend to respond quickly to chiropractic care.  The sooner you fix a condition the easier it is to correct and maintain.  This helps prevent future back pain as they grow into adulthood.  Just because a spine is young and new doesn’t mean it can’t have pain or injuries.

Get your kids adjusted and they will thank you later in life!
